How to: Set up a custom domain for your workspace

If you want to customise your workspace's URL and use a domain that better aligns with your branding, Oniva makes it easy to set up a custom domain for your workspace. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to proceed.

Custom domain per workspace

Each workspace can be linked to a custom domain. A single domain can also be used for multiple workspaces, allowing you to manage all your events under one cohesive, branded domain.

⚠️ Note: A CNAME record must generally be set up for the domain. Many DNS providers allow this only for subdomains, because a CNAME on the apex domain would overwrite other important records like nameservers or mail exchange. If you want to use a apex domain (e.g., domain.com) instead of a subdomain (e.g., events.domain.com), please check with your DNS provider beforehand whether this is possible.

Domain availability

Custom domains are available depending on your subscription tier. Please refer to our Pricing page for more information about which tiers support this feature and the associated pricing.

Setting up the custom domain

  1. Send domain request
Send your desired domain to support@oniva.events.
  2. Receive DNS records
Once we receive your request, we will provide you with the individual DNS records required for the domain setup.
  3. Set up the DNS records
Follow the instructions and add the provided DNS records to your domain’s DNS settings. Your IT administrator can assist you with this step.
  4. Confirmation and domain linking
Once we confirm that the DNS records have been correctly configured, we will link your custom domain to your workspace in Oniva.

What happens after setup?

  • All events in the workspace
All events hosted in the workspace will now be accessible via your custom domain. This also applies to ongoing events. Don’t worry—if you’ve placed the non-customised link somewhere, your events can still be reached using that link.
  • Personal links
Any new personal links sent for events will use the new domain. Links sent before the domain setup will retain their validity and continue to work with the old domain.
  • Workspace library
If you are using the Workspace Library, it will also be accessible under the new domain.
