Synchronise users directly from your Active Directory with Oniva.

The integration of Microsoft Active Directory (AD) or Azure Active Directory (Azure AD / Entra ID) with Oniva enables direct synchronisation of users, groups and access rights. IT teams only need to maintain user data in one place, with all changes automatically reflected in Oniva. When employees leave the organisation, their access to Oniva is automatically revoked. Groups and organisational structures from Active Directory can also be used to restrict access to specific events for selected teams.

Instructions

The setup of Active Directory is currently carried out by Oniva support specialists. Please contact your account manager for assistance.

Requirements

  • Active Microsoft Active Directory (AD) account

Licence & pricing

  • Enterprise only
Active Directory is currently available exclusively for Enterprise licence customers.

Use cases

  1. Role-based event access: Only members of specific AD groups (e.g. “Sales team”, “Management”) are granted access to internal events.
  2. Automatic deprovisioning: When employees leave the organisation and are deactivated in AD, their access to the Oniva event platform is automatically and immediately revoked.
  3. Department-specific events: Events can be targeted to users within a specific AD organisational unit (OU), without the need to manually create guest lists.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about integration

Are passwords from AD stored in Oniva?

No, passwords always remain within Active Directory. Oniva only receives tokens and user information – never passwords.

How often are user changes synchronised from AD?

Synchronisation typically takes place every 24 hours.

Can AD groups be used directly as event audiences?

Yes, events in Oniva can be restricted to imported account groups, so that only members of those groups can register or be invited.

What happens if the AD connection is interrupted?

Oniva supports alternative login methods using username and password, particularly for admin accounts. Participation in public events is also possible via personal links, ensuring continuity even during temporary connection issues.
